1806 Opening of the cigar
Althoug the smoke of the cigar has jet some critics, there has been founded during the time a fairly large smoker lobby.
There have been establised smoker departments in trains, also in hotels there were only smoker rooms.
After the diner it was the tradition that men went to smoke a cigar in a smoker room, where for ladies was no entrance.
To protect the clothes of cigar smoke, the 'smoking' has been developed, which name has till today the same meaning as the origin one.
The cigar avanced to a symbol of prosperity and luxury, so that it went again very popular in the 50/60ies of the 20th century during the economic miracle of Ludwig Erhard.
